Joakim “Jo” Mount: Our Leading Mechanic

Jo, the founder and CEO of Veloce Imports, has over 40 years experience in engineering, design, fabrication, drive line component building and restoration, sports car racing, and automotive services. He brings an impressive skill set to his love of cars and racing.

He grew up around a family dealership, Alfa Romeos, Jaguars, Austin Minis, Fiats, and sports car racing as a crew member and driver. Jo was involved in dirt bike enduro racing on a Husqvarna and, later in life, sprint kart racing Margays with his son. He had spent many years crewing and driving in SCCA regional and national classes: GP, GT-4 & GT-2 with Alfa Romeos, Austin Healeys, and Datsuns. He was the crew chief for the last MGB to win a SCCA national title.

To further fuel his passion for cars and sports car racing, Jo consumed every book and publication of racing history, most notably vintage racing, endurance sport car racing, and Formula 1. Because of his thirst for more knowledge, he has built up a vast network of connections which he taps into source obscure parts and information on the cars he works on and takes care of. Jo is always willing to return the favor by helping others with their questions on all things cars.

Before opening his business, Jo built up an extensive background as a contract machine and package designer. His design team patented the Nylatron bearing design. With a fully functioning machine and fabrication shop, Jo now applies his skills by designing and fabricating custom parts and tools, which comes in very handy when working on rare cars with even rarer parts. His attitude is, “If we can’t find the parts, we make them.” With the extensive skills and tools of the team at Veloce Imports there isn’t much we can’t do.

Meet Our Team

  • William “Bill” CollyerTech

Bill is the newest addition to the Veloce Imports team. He brings over 40 years of automotive repair, management, machining, customer service, and racing experience with him. His passion for excellence is evident from one of his slogans “No Excuses, Just Results “.

It all started when he was born with a wrench in his hand and an extensive family background in fasteners. He graduated with a degree in precision machining from Shawsheen Tech and proceeded to make a career as a prototype machinist for several years. Then Bill returned back to the family business to oversee manufacturing at Precision Socket Screw. His lifetime passion for cars and motorsports was always secondary to his career. After getting involved in auto crossing with his first car, a Fiat X1/9, his mechanical and driving abilities were allowed to flourish. He was always donating his spare nights and weekends to work on race cars. He’s been a crew member and crew chief for multiple SCCA road racing national champion winning teams and even crewed for a team racing in the SCCA’s Pro Trans Am series. Bill gave driving a try for a bit and after numerous wins it led to becoming a North Atlantic Road Racing Champion himself.

In the 1990s, Bill decided to make a career out of working on cars. He spent over 15 years with various GM branded dealerships. His automotive credentials include, but are not limited to, being an ASE Master Technician along with ASE certificates in A1 Advanced Engine Performance, Truck Repair, Collision Repair, and Service Advisor. At one point he had over 800 current certifications. All of this culminated in receiving multiple GM Mark of Excellence awards and General Motors most prestigious certification “World Class Certified” which only a hand full of GM’s 87,000 techs are awarded. He then tried his hand at service management for Mitsubishi then opened his own shop in Florida called Pro-Active Automotive. He did general automotive repairs but the majority of his work was high performance and purpose built race cars. The pressure of running a shop inhibited him from doing what he does best: turning a wrench. He worked for multiple, reputable high performance shops in central Florida until moving back north and working at Veloce Imports. Bill has known the owner for over 30 years and considers him like family. Bill has brought his passion and slogan with him “No Excuses, Just Results” and continues to do his best for our customers.

  • Theodore “Teddy” ReadTech

Teddy started with motocross bikes at the age of four quickly excelling into the competitive race scene. Constant racing meant constant maintenance, which was promptly passed to Teddy as soon as he was capable of turning a wrench. Naturally, the progression to cars came at 15 when Teddy purchased his first car. After learning the ins and outs of maintenance, the desire for speed and power quickly followed.

Spending countless hours on car forum pages, Teddy turbocharged his car among other modifications and eventually did the ECU tuning as well. The thirst for more knowledge of the high performance world led him to the University of Northwestern Ohio where he graduated Suma Cum Laude with a dual degree in Automotive Technology and High Performance Motorsports Technology.

During his schooling he also spent most of his free time building his fabrication and welding skill set on his own car, doing extensive chassis development to shoehorn a V8 into his Impreza. This blatant disregard to the norms and knowledge of the motorsports industry made Teddy an excellent addition to our team.
